Sound isn't just something you hear.

It's something your body feels.

WHAT IS SOUND THERAPY?

Sound therapy uses carefully chosen frequencies, from gongs, singing bowls, and crystal bowls, to work directly on your nervous system.

The vibrations slow your brainwaves, stimulate the vagus nerve, and help your body shift out of fight-or-flight and into genuine rest. It’s not simply about lying down and feeling a little better. There is a physiological response taking place beneath the surface of what you experience in that room.

As a science-led sound therapist and musician, I bring a level of care to the sound itself that most sessions don't have, through musical principles of pacing, phrasing, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, harmony, dissonance and even silence. Each session is a considered journey, not just a playlist.

SOUND BATHS

Group and Private Sound Baths

An hour that does something nothing else quite does. Held in my garden studio in Woking, Surrey, a peaceful, private space surrounded by greenery, a setting that many clients find calming from the moment they arrive. You'll lie on a plush futon with blankets, bolsters, and an eye mask, and let the sound do the rest.

Most people notice something shift before I've even played a note. The space does a lot of the work.

Group sessions run regularly and sell out quickly. I also host special collaborative events throughout the year — see Events & Projects below.

1:1 SOUND TREATMENTS - IN PERSON

A Clinical 1:1 Sound Treatment

The Peter Hess® Sound Massage Method is a deeply therapeutic one-to-one treatment using specially developed, therapy-grade singing bowls placed directly on and around the body. Gentle vibrations travel through the body to support nervous system regulation, release physical tension, and encourage deep relaxation and the body's natural capacity for balance and self-regulation.

As a fully qualified Peter Hess® Sound Massage Practitioner, I'm among only a handful of practitioners in the UK trained to offer the complete method, allowing every treatment to be tailored using the full range of Peter Hess® techniques and protocols. I have also completed advanced training in fascia-focused sound treatment, using targeted therapeutic vibrations to support the body's connective tissue, improve ease of movement, and enhance overall wellbeing.

EVENTS & PROJECTS

Sound therapy, taken further.

Alongside my regular sessions, I run a series of collaborative events and projects that bring sound into unexpected places, with other practitioners, musicians, cultures, and communities.

These sell out. Sign up to the newsletter to hear about them first.

  • "This wasn’t my first sound bath, but it was my first experience with Joo — and it was excellent. The setting was lovely and the session felt like a guided journey through sound. I enjoyed it so much that I booked a private sound treatment shortly after. It was deeply relaxing and allowed me to properly switch off. I left feeling calm and refreshed for days after"
